At Period Mouldings, we’re deeply committed to reducing our carbon footprint. As part of this commitment, we’ve taken a wide range of actions to operate more sustainably:
First, we source all our wood from FSC-certified timber suppliers.
Additionally, we only use solid wood or wood laminates—never MDF.
Before working with any supplier, we evaluate their practices to ensure they partner with sustainable wood mills.
As a result, we recycle nearly all our waste, sending very little to landfill.
Moreover, we collect wood shavings and dust, which other companies reuse for products like pet bedding or wood briquettes.
If the material doesn’t meet those external standards, we create our own briquettes using an in-house machine.
During the warmer months, we store wood offcuts and then burn them in winter to heat our workshop and dry our spray room.
In terms of materials, we only use water-based paints to reduce environmental impact.
Similarly, we choose low-impact glues for all bonding applications.
After use, we send all empty paint tins to a metal recovery company for recycling.
We also sort plastics and cardboard for pickup by our recycling partners.
To reduce energy consumption, we’ve installed full LED lighting across all our locations.
Looking ahead, we’re investing over £100,000 in the next two years to enhance our wood extraction, moulding, compression, and drying systems.
Altogether, these initiatives reflect our ongoing effort to act responsibly, reduce waste, and create a more sustainable future for our business and our planet.
