We pride ourselves on using only natural materials that are fit for purpose in both period and modern homes. This means that we never make skirting out of MDF for the following reasons:
  • We believe that the product, although stable offers risks to our employees without having a hypogenic environment – we choose not to subject our staff to this risk.
  • Our customers want natural – they often have wooden, natural stone and ceramic floors and although water proof MDF is offered we believe in the longer term it is not as robust as the natural materials.
  • Finally, the aging process for natural timber results in mouldings that complement their environment. They can take the knocks and bumps that modern life creates but still look beautiful as they age. Our experience of MDF is as it gets damaged it begins to look worn and this would not do credit to the homes that our mould goes into.
The result is that in cost terms the differential per length is no more than a quality coffee on the high street so why have a copy when you can have the original used through all periods of British architecture.
